A History of Music: A Play Without Words in Four Acts

Kebbi Williams, the saxophone player for the Tedeschi / Trucks band has written A History of Music: A Play Without Words in Four Acts. I saw a production in progress about a year ago but Saturday Kebbi presented the final version as an outdoor performance at the Hambidge Center. I knew Kebbi and Simone Baron but met the rest of the musicians and dancers during their recent residency at Hambidge, most of them went on the pre-dawn hike up Picken’s Nose I wrote about previously. This was an outdoor production that moved from a wooded area to the “stage” at the Antinori Village. We were seated level with the actors and as they wove through the audience during the play we became part of the production. Really interesting stuff. As much as I love being immersed in a different art medium I really love meeting the artists outside of their discipline.  I am always concerned about encroaching on an artist’s residency time but I hope to hang out with them more if they come back for another residency.
