Donna Mintz – Stars at Noon

Years ago I was riding down a dirt road and saw a willowy, blonde woman walking down the road. You can always tell a Hambidge resident, they look pretty different from your average Appalachian. I stopped and spoke to her not realizing what a good friend Donna Mintz  would become. Through her I’ve met sculptors, film makers, painters and gallery owners. Donna is also a freelance writer for various art publications. Recently she published a book, Stars at Noon. It is a pilgrimage through a book and love letter to the writer James Agee. She will have a conversation with writer, Brent Martin about her book at City Lights Books in Sylva, NC. On August 1. Her research, writing and art are all exquisite and I urge you to put all your money towards her art and books. You won’t be disappointed. Check out her website www.donnajmintz.com and her art at The Sandler / Hudson Gallery in Atlanta. Remember…. Sylva on August 1, be there or be square. Here is a photo of the poster and a photo of her book.

    Craig,

That solitary, winter-dusk walk was one of the most auspicious of my life! It could not have been otherwise. I cannot imagine my life without you and Helen in it. Thank you for such a gracious introduction here on your letter and for surprising me yesterday with these wonderful, exciting, perfect ( perfect what? I can’t call them posters…) works of art.

I take them as the gift of time, talent and generosity of spirit that they are. I will treasure them always and I’ll see you on the first at City Lights!!

    Love and gratitude, Donna
