Kissing

Have you ever seen Cardinals kiss? (birds not Catholics) They have a mating ritual where the male feeds the female to prove himself worthy and it looks like they are kissing. I have a pair that come to my deck every morning to eat the seeds I put out. I have to assume they are the same birds every day because I haven’t seen two males or two females at the same time. Watching them interact and “kiss” gives me joy and hope. I know these two birds will not stop war or eliminate fear and hunger but to witness the care and love of two insignificant entities inspires me. We look for signs wherever we can. I haven’t been able to get a photo of them kissing but here is a photo of the handsome male.
