Wake up, wake up, it is morning!

Early morning is my favorite time of the day. I live on the side of a mountain surrounded by taller mountains so I don’t get that traditional sunrise (or sunset) that many people do. When the sun hits the clouds properly (morning or evening) it is magical. The coolness, the birds and the clouds floating through the hills and drinking coffee out of a Meg Campbell mug make for a good start of the day and for balance after reading the news. I feed the birds every morning and see a variety including Titmouse, Chickadee, Nuthatches, Wrens, Finches, Red Bellied Woodpeckers and others. My favorite is a Cardinal couple. They have become so used to me that they will come down and eat within 5 feet of me. I have witnessed the ritual “Cardinal kiss” where the male picks up a seed and feeds the female. It looks like a kiss.
